3.5 stars
I enjoyed this book a lot. I considered giving it four stars, but there were some things I noticed that could have been better, so I am giving it a rounded-up three and a half stars!
What really made me like the book was the great world building. I am very picky about this, and I think that AB Whelan did a great job of making Arkana come to life. It had a bunch of awesome animals, an interesting history, and sounded really pretty. I loved learning more and more about it.
Plus, all the great backstories. They really added to the characters, and I love a good backstory. Viktor's was so sad!
One thing I did not like was that the romance starts to get melodramatic; professing undying love in rather flowery language and having fights, etc, etc. I liked the chemistry between Viktor and Molly, but I didn't like that there were pages of them saying things like:
"if only I had two lives, I would dedicate one to you. I'd court you every day and bring you flowers. i'd build you the palace of your dreams. I'd never lie to you or hurt you. I'd do anything you ask."
Also, the end seemed a little strange to me.
All in all, I really enjoyed this story. While it had its flaws, I would definitely recommend this, and I will most likely be reading on in the series!

Spoiler
Really? We don't find out that Viktor has special motley powers unti they are needed to wipe out Adam's memories, heal Camilla, and wipe out yet more memories? They need to be mentioned earlier, because it felt like a bit of a copout to me.All in all, I really enjoyed this story.
