The Liar
by Nora Roberts
Nora Roberts has been my go-to author since I first discovered her "Irish Thoroughbred" in the library when I was a stay-at-home Mom in the '80's needing a little escape. When I need a strong, sympathetic (or at least not wimpy) heroine, a real man, a fleshed-out group of secondary characters and a good plot without too much thought necessary, I pick up a Nora Roberts.
"The Liar" fits the bill for good entertainment, not great literature.
Yes, I guessed the outcome in the first few chapters and I still don't understand how anyone with several low-income, part-time jobs can ever pay off one credit card, much less a mountain of million dollar debt, but I genuinely liked all the characters, the southern way of small town life depicted without horrible stereotypes, an interesting plot and satisfying end.
