The Upside of Unrequited by Becky Albertalli

funny lighthearted fast-paced

First of all, I listened to this book on Audible and I loved it. The voice actress really brought Molly to life and it made it much easier to connect with her story. This story was a cute fluffy contemporary romance that I adored so much. It made me so happy to read it. I connected with Molly - as I didn't get my first kiss until after a lot of my friends, and felt that what Molly was thinking was accurate to other people in her situation. I wasn't the biggest fan of the love triangle as it seemed obvious as to whom she would get with. However, the relationship ended up being really cute. This book has a lot of great representation with LGBTQ+ characters, feminist characters, Jewish characters, POC characters and plus-size characters It also tackled many issues from homophobia, biphobia, sexuality, virgin/slut-shaming, and empowerment. I read this book after Simon vs The Homosapiens Agenda, and I really enjoyed how the two novels were connected.
Overall, I thought this was a great book. It was a cute, fluffy, contemporary romance. I would definitely recommend it.
