I had seen several recommendations for this book, but it just doesn't work for me. I didn't find it to be very believable. There was certainly a strange collection of adults who interacted with Alex, and sometimes their behavior was terrible. I didn't like the inferences that could arise from Terra slipping off with various men, visiting Zelda's, etc.
As others have mentioned, the formatting at times could be tedious; I have to admit that at times I skipped strings because they seemed interminable. I understand that it could represent the way Alex talked, but sometimes it seemed that an entire page was one run-on sentence. There were some great conversations, though, and I laughed out loud when Alex took over Terra's cell phone.
As a former science teacher who frequently showed episodes of the original "Cosmos," it was a pleasure to read about a student who was so invested in astronomy.
