Behemoth
by Scott Westerfeld
There's a bit more action in Behemoth as Alek finds himself leading a revolution against the Ottoman Empire. I'm still having fun with steampunk and Behemoth is jam packed with steampunk elements. The Clankers machines get even more ingenious and the Darwinists beasties get even more interesting and clever. In Leviathan I really liked the main characters, Alek and Deryn. This is a middle grade book but what I loved about it was that Alek and Deryn begin to grow up in Behemoth. They are braver, smarter, and more mature yet they still take chances. They strike out on their own and Alek gets a chance to prove to everyone that he is up to the task of eventually running a country. A really fun book and I'll for sure be continuing on in the series.
