The Book of Witching
by C.J. Cooke
The premise of this novel and the 16th century Scottish woman who was burned at the stake, accused of witchcraft, were both intriguing to me but the execution falls woefully short. The two timelines were not in synchronization, the writing felt almost sterile/robotic and devoid of any meaningful or convincing emotion, and the world building (including the backstory of the magical book) was underwhelming.
