The only reasons I made it so far in this book is that it's short and very easy to skim. But after a cringe-worthy girls' shopping trip in 'the big city', I had to be done.

First, the dialogue is terrible. It's clunky and cheesy and not at all realistic. I just kept saying "People don't talk like that!" Second, the romance storyline is a runaway train. It's far too fast and out of nowhere. It's like Alex bears Suzie no ill will whatsoever and has just been waiting for her to reappear.

Suzie reads a lot younger than 28 years old. This is like a sappy high school romance - as imagined by a high schooler.

Also, this book appears to have two different covers on Goodreads. The cover as I bought it was an orange background with cute characters, fairy lights, and an outline of a pile of books. It was super cute and definitely part of the appeal. This cover (close of up a girl with cartoon moose ears) is nothing I ever would have picked up. I almost feel cover-catfished.

Save yourself the time. There are better Christmas romances out there.
