I saw this book in a reading wrap up on YouTube and immediately put it on hold at my library, and the recommender was right. This book is sad and challenging, taking on the complexities of justice and morality by going through the hours before a confessed murderer’s execution. He shares his insights, but his story is really told through the women who survived him.
Despite knowing pretty much how things are set to play out from the beginning, this book manages to raise suspense in the *how* of it all.
5 stars, no notes.
