If I Fix You by Abigail Johnson

3.0

It's true what this book's blurb actually said about the book, Sarah Dessen fans would really love this.

While If I Fix You has a promising plotline, I think somehow it didn't deliver in terms of humor, characterization and dialogue. It's too serious and heavy on drama, which I wouldn't mind maybe, if the book has better characters. The book is very self-righteous and prude, which really bugs me to no end.

I like the main character Jill, and maybe Daniel. But Sean and Claire are so clichéd it's hard for me to endure reading about them throughout the story. I guess not-enough-Jill-and-Daniel is what I'm pointing out here lmao! I like Daniel for Jill more and the ending really disappointed me.

I find it hard to believe age gap and consent are still big deals in the US because duh. As much as I understand the author wanting everything to be PG and legal, I think it wouldn't hurt if Jill actually ends up with someone who appreciates her right away rather than the flirt bestfriend who flirted his way into the whole book. And it's not like being 21 (!!) is considered as ancient yknow.
