The Legend of Sleepy Hollow by Washington Irving

mysterious

3.5

I expected this to be way spookier than it was actually - to me it isn't a bad thing that it wasn't though. I never dared to read this, because I thought it would be too scary for me. Instead, it was an atmospheric tale and while I was reading I could imagine a narrator's voice telling me this story by a campfire. Also, the actual ghost part was a very short part of the story.
One of the rare classics I liked reading (not that hard since it's only a short story, but still) except for the misogyny and racism (which were not surprising of course given the time it was written, but it still annoyed me).
