Problematic Summer Romance by Ali Hazelwood
1.0
funny lighthearted tense slow-paced
Plot or Character Driven: A mix
Strong character development: No
Loveable characters: No
Diverse cast of characters: No
Flaws of characters a main focus: Yes

Repetitive on the age gap element of this romance. Hazelwood's self-stated selling point is STEM romance, and the FMC is a STEM researcher with none of her shit together in any way whatsoever. I guess it's supposed to be quirky and charming? Maya comes off as desperate and Conor, the love interest, is witty but devoid of emotional intelligence. Nice summer vibe, some animal rescue and Nyota is amazing, but these cannot save a dreary romance.
