This was a rather disappointing book. For being about Ursula, she's really not in the book all that much. In fact, most of the chapters are about Prince Tulip and whatever is going on with her - which is something completely inaccessible to readers who have not read the first two books in this trilogy, as the author does not give enough backstory and recaps to understand what is happening. Ursula barely appears in the story, and when she does it is frequently just for scenes that were lifted straight out of the movie, including one chapter that is just her song written down. The story jumps around between time and place with no rhyme or reason, making it complicated and annoying to follow along with what's happening, and none of the characters are developed enough to have any connection to as you finish the book. This is definitely not a stand alone book - if you want to read it, you need to read the other two books in the series. That being said, I'm not sure I have it in me to read two more poorly written books just to fully understand what happened here.

In conclusion, if you're looking for a book about Ursula and her backstory, this isn't it.
