The summer girl features Tate and Cassie. While books 1 and 2 (Evan and Cooper’s books) were filled with angst and more serious life vibes, I appreciated the easy and fresh story between Cassie and Tate more. Cassie is in town for the summer to visit her grandmother and be a small part of the Beacons grand opening, a hotel previously owned by her grandparents. Cassie meets Tate after accidently eavesdropping on his cringy breakup with a friend with benefits. She proposes he be her summer fling and while he resists at first he can't stay away and soon the fling turns into more. Their banter and quick wit was fun and breezy! No Elle Kennedy book is complete without a crazy parent or shocking twist and this one had both!

all the books in this series were quick easy reads with fun characters that interweave throughout the series. These books don't take themselves too seriously and are a perfect beach or vacation read as you can shut off your brain and observe these people's problems and not worry about yours.
