Mansfield Park by Jane Austen

3.5

i think i’m sitting at 3.5 rounded down. i do enjoy this book for the most part, Fanny provides a very clear critique and contrast of what’s considered “civilized society” and how hypocritical and classist it is. It’s Austen poking fun a the oppressive societal norms that really didn’t make any sense in her typical Austen way. But alas, they had to be cousins which always icks me and there scenes in this book that make my insides want to shrivel and die (the play scene especially).
It’s still a solid read but i can see why people consider it one of Austen’s lesser novels
