This book is a love letter to geeks and geek culture. You do have to be familiar with lots of 80’s pop culture to truly appreciate it (you can search for what you do not know, but it’s not the same).

It is fun, it is easy to read and it’s not pretentious.

But… the prose is quite weak, and the characters are very bland, even the main ones. There is some attempt to character development and arcs but it’s very basic and by the numbers.

So, not a bad book, worth reading if you are a fellow nerd, but take it for what it is. An entertaining story, nothing more really, and sometimes it’s what we need.
