I'm a big fan of Bernard Cornwell having previously read his Sharpe series and some of his stand alone books. I decided to try this series. But I couldn't get into it. I just didn't like the old style type narrative. Maybe it was hard for me to change mental gears but after trying to force myself to read the first chapter I decided I didn't want to force myself to read anything so I dnf'd it.
