These Things Linger by Dan Franklin
4.0

"There were only two types of people: bullshitters and straight shooters."

When Alex's uncle unexpectedly passes, Alex thought he had his life together, however throughout the course of These Things Linger we discover that Alex has been a pretty good bullshitter his entire life. With one pull of a knot from his past, his entire future he has "built" crumbles on an already faulty foundation of a broken childhood.

Dan Franklin weaves his words into a terrifying picture of what dabbling into the occult can do. Alex attempts to contact his recently deceased uncle to get some answers or closure for what he thought was an absent parent. However he brings through way more than he wanted and then literally all hell breaks lose.

There were some scenes described so well I have vivid imagery of these terrifying events that took place that will linger long after I have read the book. I was a bit disappointed in the ending but overall it was a great book of horror. And just when I thought the influence of book was done the thought occurs to be right before I turn off the light for bed, to make sure my feet are tucked in so the Gut Snatcher doesn't get me. Indeed these things linger...
