How to Lose Your Mother: A Daughter's Memoir
by Molly Jong-Fast
emotional
fast-paced
Complicated reactions to this. Clearly it’s a compelling and propulsive read (and listening to some of it adds to the ‘being in it’ sense).
A lot of the reviews (most of them) deconstruct and analyze the brutal tell-all of growing up with her mother…and it does feel brutal in a very privileged way. I was more struck by the very difficult test MJF had and the fear surrounding her husband’s illness as she’s still a youngish mom w 3 teen/YA kids.
