This book was bloodydamn near perfect. THE ENDING??? It was the best way the trilogy could have ended. My favorite character have ascended into something else entirely and I know they will stick with me for a long while.

That being said, this book was also far too dark for me. I now realize, this series as a whole is too dark for my taste, but I truly have enjoyed the experience of living Darrow's world. The ending redeemed the story as a whole but I can't forget the brutality and torture and death I experienced throughout this book. It started off quite slow too, only really picking up in the last quarter of the book but I guess I can't complain. I wept and wept at some parts and felt my heart tear in two at some of the war stories that came about.

But I have such peace with the ending now. I'm satisfied with the world that was created. It was a brutal experience and yet it's beautiful.
