Falling by Jane Green
1.0
Whelp…I finished it. I knew less than 50 pages into this one that I had made a huge error in judgement; this book was simply not for me. I’ve always had a complicated relationship with Jane Green’s books, I’ve loved some and been lukewarm on others, but this is the first one that I can honestly say I had to force myself to keep reading. When the summary says that this is about the beginnings of a relationship between Emma and her landlord (Dominic), it’s not lying. Seriously, that’s the ONLY thing the book is about. It’s the inverse of a lot of these types of novels: the main plotline IS the new relationship and any of the other stuff (new career transition, moving past family baggage, etc…) is completely secondary. I’m sure this book appeals to some people, and it definitely hasn’t turned me off of Green’s books as there have been plenty I’ve enjoyed, but for now I am very excited to finally move on.
