Meet Your Match by Kandi Steiner
4.0

Kandi Steiner has once again captured our hearts with her latest novel, MEET YOUR MATCH. As an avid reader of her books, I was ecstatic to hear she would be dipping her toes in hockey and she did NOT disappoint!

One of the most intriguing aspects is the dynamic between Vince and Maven. Their head-butting and constant clashes only serve to fuel their desire for one another, creating an undeniable chemistry that leaps off the pages. Steiner weaves this tension throughout the narrative, making it a driving force behind the characters' development and their journey towards love.

Vince's approach to pursuing Maven is refreshing. Instead of being overly pushy, he patiently waits for the right moments to break down her defenses. This aspect of his character is commendable, as it shows a deeper understanding and respect for Maven's boundaries. It's this combination of persistence and restraint that makes Vince an endearing and well-rounded character.

However, Maven's wishy-washy attitude did pose some moments of frustration for me. While her resistance is understandable, as she previously had her heart broken and taking on a rookie hockey star is definitely terrifying, there were times when she knowingly put herself in situations with Vince that she knew would inevitably become steamy. It happens in all romance books, this is no different, but her inability to move forward with Vince, even after these “breakthrough” moments was infuriating.

Overall MEET YOUR MATCH is another testament to Kandi Steiner's prowess as a romance author. Her ability to write from a romantic female gaze perspective is truly captivating, and Vince's character adds a refreshing element to the story. While Maven's wavering attitude may cause occasional frustration, the overall experience of this novel is engaging and satisfying. If you're a fan of Steiner's previous works or simply enjoy a hockey dense romance novel, MEET YOUR MATCH should definitely be on your reading list!!
