The Burning God
by R.F. Kuang
This is the fantastic conclusion to a fantastic trilogy. While I personally think this may be the weakest entry in the trilogy, I did still enjoy it a lot. There were some pacing issues with this book, but overall, I feel completely satisfied with this ending.
I was debating giving this 3 stars, but I think my harshest criticisms were personal preference. Some of the colloquial dialogue made the book less immersive for me, but in reality I do respect the author’s choice to have the characters interact in that way.
I will absolutely recommend this trilogy for anyone who enjoys fantasy, and specifically people who want fantasy that isn’t rooted in western civilization/culture. Definitely some dark moments, but I think that is what sets this series apart from many other fantasy books.
