PREVIOUS REVIEW

if i could give this book six stars, i honestly would.

you deserve each other by sarah hogle. i finished reading this book an hour ago, and was attempting to give myself space so i could figure out how i felt about this book. unfortunately, it has not worked, so i am going to keep this short and sweet.

i can usually tell from the first few pages of a book how much i will like it. and most of the time, that feeling is the actual number of stars i end up rating it! but that was (thankfully,) not the case for you deserve each other.
the first half of the book, i was mainly thinking: okay, this will be a solid 4 star book. i like the writing, i like the characters, this was a good book to read.
after the second half: what the absolute heck just happened. i fell in love with the writing. i fell in love with the characters, just like they fell in love with each other. i fell in love with this book like no other book before. i am in love with this.
sorry for the library, i don't know if i can ever part or even think about returning it. i am...emotionally unwell.

the plot, as you could tell from the numerous, other reviews, is about naomi and nicholas. they are engaged, but both of them are unhappy in their marriage. they decide to try and get the other person to call it off, because whoever backs out first has to pay the nonrefundable wedding bills bought by deborah westfield, nicholas' truly splendid mother. (yes, that IS SARCASM, i hate deborah <3 as i should.)

this is a lovers to enemies to lovers, but i didn't really see much of the lover's at the start. the whole last hundred pages were just: if i'm being honest, the whole book was just: me uncontrollably laughing or smiling or just internally squealing because: THIS IS ONE OF THE BEST ENEMIES TO LOVERS ROMANCES I HAVE EVER SEEN. it's not a "oh, i dislike you," no it was a full i literally hate you what is the worst thing i can do to you to make you divorce me. but then it turned into what can i do to show you how much i care and appreciate you and i just-
i...literally am spellbound over this.

you never really see the exact moment where naomi falls back in love with nicholas: i feel like that was part of the beautiful charm. there were little hints, cues, nudges, urging her that she was wrong about nicholas. about who he was. they never took the time to get to know each other, and that reflected at the beginning. but they both slowly started and omigod i want to reread this so bad.

(GUYS I JUST REMEMBERED THE STRAW WRAPPER BRACELET AND BURST INTO TEARS THIS IS NOT OKAY SARAH HOGLE SHOULD BE CHARGED WITH WHAT SHE IS DOING TO ME)

the song that came to mind the whole time i was reading this was: stay stay stay by taylor swift. honestly, just fits naomi and nicholas' relationship so well!! cmon, the "that's when you came in wearing a football helmet and said: okay, let's talk." PLEASE NICHOLAS WOULD DO THAT LMAO
also all the other lyrics literally perfect i think taylor wrote the song about them to be honest.

i don't want to spoil anything but this was literally mind blowing i am still not over it go read please
thanks you
