The Sunken City by Emma V.R. Noyes
5.0
Wow. Who knew that a Pirate/Mermaid/Magical world Fantasy was something that I need in my life! This book gives Pirates of the Caribbean x The Little Mermaid vibes and I am so here for it. There was almost a bit of an element of sci-fi with the above-water world being in the 1700s(ish?) and the underwater worlds being so advanced that they were basically functioning like our modern-day society. It was a refreshing juxtaposition to read.
So engrossing that I devoured it in a couple of days once I got through the first couple of chapters. There were a few sections throughout the book that didn't flow so easily to read
I loved Amare as a character from the very start. I feel like 14-year-old me would have definitely connected with her and wanted to be a pirate just like her. My heart broke and ached multiple times along with this heroine.
A YA Fantasy with a dash of history, enemies to lovers, found family, arranged marriage, a love triangle and of course the whole lost princess thing.
I’m so excited to get onto ready book #2 and can’t wait to get my hands on physical copies of these books!!

I was gifted the ebook as an ARC in exchange for an honest review by the author. All thoughts are, as always, entirely my own and provided voluntarily.
