This series is amazing. I love the movies but the books are so different and I love them even more. Princess Mia is such a great character. She is flawed, just like many of us. She is a "loser" in high school with an awkward friend group and is failing Algebra. She's a little awkward but her writing is hilarious. The situations she gets herself in and her interactions with her family and friends are so amusing. The books have a much shorter time span than the movies. In this book (the second in the series) she has only known for a month that she is a princess.
Unlike the movie, these books are not PG. I would say probably PG-13. It is not awfully inappropriate but definitely for the older reader. ( A mature 11/ 12. I read the first two for the first time at 13). I defintely recommend these books for fans of the movies or just fans of princesses and fantasy as well as young adult books about teen angst and the struggles of high school
