Set Fire To The Gods, is pitched as everything that sounds awesome to me: Avatar, the last, Airbender, gladiators, and romance. But ultimately this book fell short for me. I wish I liked the characters, but they lacked distinct personalities and I found it difficult to care about them. 
Additionally, I found the plot lackluster. I was looking forward to gladiator fights (with magic!!!) and was super disappointed when the fights weren’t even a main part of the plot—despite the story starting with one of the characters accidentally inciting a war.
This book appeared to have everything I wanted from a story and I’m honestly bummed it didn’t work out. Even though there’s a second book, I honestly don’t care enough about the characters/plot to finish the series
