There are definitely some trigger warnings with this one so be sure to check those if you need to. 

I don’t like books that end on a cliffhanger and you have to read book 2 to get a resolution… so this and the second book are really one book in two instalments. Not a bad hockey story and coming-to-terms-with-your-past story.
