The Book of the Dead by Douglas Preston, Lincoln Child

3.0

Apparently this is the third book of a trilogy and I didn't know it. So I'm all out of order here, but I don't think that has anything to do with how I saw the book.

The Book of the Dead was another page-turner from Preston and Child. I flew through these 600 pages. I was mostly able to get a good idea of what had gone on in the previous two books as I read through.

My complaint is that it seemed to go on and on, beyond all reason. I got to what should have been the climax and realized there were still about 150 pages left to go. Either this scene was going to be crazily drawn out or the book was too long. The book was too long. I can only imagine that if I had read the previous two books, this feeling would have been magnified.

And what is it with these guys and the bombshell last sentences? They've done it in two of the three books of theirs I've read. Give it a rest already.

Diehard fans of this duo will want to read this, especially if they've read the first two. I enjoyed their book [b:Thunderhead|136636|Thunderhead|Douglas Preston|http://photo.goodreads.com/books/1172082457s/136636.jpg|294161] much more.
