I really enjoyed the setting of this book. I don't think I've ever read anything set during the Vietnam War particularly (partially) set in Vietnam itself.
This is my first Kristin Hannah book, I liked her style of writing, I liked her characters and how she carried them through the conflicts of the story.
My main issue with this book was the pacing, there were several time jumps and it really slowed down in the middle there. I listened to the audio version for several chapters in the middle there which helped to pick it up again, but it just felt a little up and down with the pacing of it. Otherwise a great read, interesting time period and perspective on the war, definitely not a side to it that I've heard before or seen portrayed in any sort of media.
