This book was a meeting that could have been an email. I was SO bored waiting for the story to happen, waiting for some plot to be revealed, waiting for some twist. It just dragged so much and nothing much happened except for continuing the theme of shocking, gruesome, unnecessary deaths. I loved the rebellion arc of the last two books. But a whole book about fighting venin without any new hints about why they’re trying to destroy the continent?
And everything we learned about irids and the other gods and the cultures of the islands goes nowhere! The whole book felt like a super slow set up for the next one. Disappointing. I was so ready to get lost in a fun blockbuster read. I had way more fun with the fan theories on Reddit leading up to the publication date than I did with the actual book.
