I great ending to this whole series. I enjoyed this duology more than the first one, I just appreciated the characters more. It is very noticeable that Chloe Gong’s writing has improved drastically since her debut book. Only thing that I had a problem with was that the reader is assumed to have knowledge about communism and nationalism in Shanghai in the 30s, which I do NOT, so I had to ✨pretend to understand✨. Overall big fan of this duology, just wish it wasn’t necessary to read These Violent Delights and Ends before to enjoy it.

P.S. I also feel like this series would have benefited from a map in the book!!! (I do understand that I could google it but I’m lazy and just want it to be easily accessible)
