The Predator by K.A. Applegate

4.0

Marco has always been my favorite Animorph. Reading these books as a kid helped establish within my psyche my favorite type of character: the goofball who is nonetheless intelligent and competent. Mat Cauthon from Wheel of Time, particularly in the last book, is another great example of this type of character. The only downside to this new audio edition of The Predator is I'm not sure how much I care for the narrator. He does a fine job reading and differentiating between voices, but he does not attempt in any way to sound like a young teenager. The other narrators are obviously also not that young, but they at least try to avoid a rumbling basso. We'll see if the reader's narration feels better over time, as the characters age, or the actor gets more experience with the series.
