The Pillars of the Earth by Ken Follett

5.0

I had really low expectations for this book because all I knew about Pillars of the Earth was that it was very very long and about building a cathedral, but I was so pleasantly surprised! I’m usually not a fan of stories that are this plot driven, but this was such an enjoyable read and I was so emotionally invested in the story. I think Follet has a very simple and effective writing style that is great for this type of complex interwoven plot. This is the first 1000+ page book i’ve read where I felt that there were no filler sections and every part of the book was important and interesting
