This was exactly what I needed to read right now! I got this for free on the stuff your kindle day.

There’s no spice (which is honestly what I was looking for right now) which makes sense since the main character is 16. I usually don’t enjoy books where the main character is that much younger than me, but I didn’t mind it in this one.

Honestly what made this book for me was Bastian. I absolutely LOVE the protectiveness of Bastian. It was exactly the kind of romance vibes I was looking for right now. It’s a slow burn, but it’s clear he’s into her from the start. It’s one of those things where it’s absolutely toxic in real life, but exactly what I want from a book!

I will say (because I feel like I can’t not mention this) at one point he literally mentions having to “mark” her to protect her. I don’t know what I was expecting from this… but it was not him having to literally pee on her like a dog. I’m ngl, I did chose to ignore this part and continue on because I was enjoying the book but I was definitely taken back by that! I could have done without this particular scene and I will 100% pretend it doesn’t exist lol.

Excluding that scene, I’d probably rate it a 3.5, but since I can’t do half stars on here I’m bumping it up to 4 since it was exactly the book I needed in the moment.
