Grown is a book that radiates feeling. Reading it, I was heartbroken, angry, proud, and shocked (that ending. OMG). I'm constantly in awe of Tiffany D. Jackson's writing and her ability to craft a narrative that is heavy, yet so readable. 5 stars Grown follows a 17-year-old Enchanted Jones as she tries to develop her music career. She is taken under the wing of Korey Fields, a major R&B star. It seems like all of her dreams are coming true when she is invited to go on tour with him, but things quickly go south when Korey starts to groom and abuse Enchanted. Grown has a similar, but not exact storyline to the abuse R. Kelly has perpetrated. It deals with women/girls being blamed for their abuse, brainwashing, gaslighting, racism and murder. It also has a strong focus on family support and friendship.
