The Coast by Donna Costello
4.0
This is the first opportunity I’ve had to read a short story romance. I initially started The Coast with many questions. How short is a short story? How does a reader understand what is happening? Does everything get wrapped up before it finishes?
I can’t speak on other short stories, but my experience with this one was perfect! Turns out it’s no more than a handful of pages. Short and sweet, very to the point. All the information is within those few pages to understand and follow the characters that are involved. Most of the bigger plot points about the characters are only touched upon, we don’t receive the detail and background like we would with a full novel.
However, I think reading about Jameson and Gina in this way hooked me in and quickly became my favourite way of getting a taste of the characters before a book comes out. I am looking forward to Changing of the Seasons & Alabama Pines being released and getting my hands on them to complete the big picture of these characters.
