As a fair warning....the way I am a Patroclus SIMP - unmatched. This has been my favorite installment in this series thus far. It was almost there to a 5 star but I had to knock off a .5 simply because I felt like the relationship was off balance. I love a good Achilles and Patroclus retelling, but the addition of Helen made me hesitant. I loved each character individually so so much (obvi Patroclus was my sweet cinnamon baby angel who needs to be protected at all costs). I think where it felt a little unbalanced for me was that it felt like Patroclus was the third rather than part of the triad, if that makes sense. If you look at it, Helen was the one being brought into that relationship, but it felt more like Patroclus was being pushed aside so she could have an enemies to lovers arc with Achilles and then Patroclus was just also there to add spice.
Despite the unbalanced relationship, I loved the trials and how the plot unfolded. There were a few things that I wish would have been different but can't say without spoilers. Also, I had a moment mid way through where I had a breakdown simply because I remembered the original story of Achilles and Patroclus and IFKYK so I spent the second half waiting to see if he was gunna be okay or if Katee decided to rip my heart out of my chest.
Overall, great book. I CANNOT WAIT for the next one to come out - I plan on devouring it in one sitting.
