The League of Gentlewomen Witches
by India Holton
One book written in high twee with lashings of steampunk and referential wit, I could handle though I wouldn't say I enjoyed [b:The Wisteria Society of Lady Scoundrels|55502861|The Wisteria Society of Lady Scoundrels (Dangerous Damsels, #1)|India Holton|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1606749077l/55502861._SX50_.jpg|86547348], rating it only three stars. This is more of the same and after a while the twee got on my nerves, especially when there is nothing else of substance to capture my attention. (Though there was one Star Wars reference.)
There's a lot of the two main characters protesting too much they don't like each other whilst also going at it like rabbits. There is a whiff of a plot underneath the high society fighting & rivalries but this is less a popcorn read and more a candy floss indulgence - mostly air andfood colouring narrative styling.
