def got stuck in the middle for a bit & dgaf abt the plot but far more importantly than those things, this is a voice that never exhausts itself & there are so many prismatic little observations of people and land and time that i could see this being rereadable, regardless of how compelling the justice/mystery elements are or are not........... obv im on board w animals as people, kin, etc and fuck those human victims but the stakes stayed fairly mellow throughout. overall—delight!
