Kai. Fucking. Azer. ARE YOU KIDDING ME? This man opened his mouth and I was immediately sat.

“Remind me to make you smile like that again, when you aren’t dying, and I have all the time to memorize it.”

“And I’ll save you life again and again, aimlessly hoping you will allow me to stay in it.”

‘“Are you going to sleep?” “Oh, darling, I’m already dreaming.”’

‘“Tell me,” he murmurs, “what do you want me to call you?” My eyes slowly meet his, confused by his question. “What do you want to call me?” “I want to call you mine.”’

“Pae, when I look at you… I’m devastated. I’m drowning. I’m dying to catch my breath.”

Period.

I love everything about Pae and Kai’s relationship… though, Lauren had me intrigued by Kitt and Paedyn’s relationship.

Lauren Roberts NAILED tension in this debut novel. Like so much tension it almost hurt. My God.

I’m a sucker for girlhood and can we just take a moment for Paedyn and Adena? They fed my soul.

The plot/fantasy of it all was giving Hunger Games and I didn’t hate it. The world building was fairly simple which I appreciated. Definitely a good book to maybe dip your toes into the fantasy world!

The ending? Yeah, wrapping this up now so I can dive into book two.
