Life after Life by Kate Atkinson

3.0

Atkinson's novel hooked me right at the beginning. It was thrilling reading about all these potential futures, these potential deaths. Nevertheless, it got a bit long sometimes. I'm actually not sure which chapters lost me, but I do know I tapped out for almost half the book. Some storylines were insanely hooking and interesting. Others lagged.

This novel talks about important topics and accurate historical context drives its atmosphere. There were descriptions I adored, scenes that made me physically react, and characters that I got attached to. Yet I believe, it could've been punchier and shorter.

Perhaps I'm not Atkinson's target audience, and that's okay. As I said, I really enjoyed parts of this book. But I would only recommend it for people who can stand really slow-burn stories.
