While I did end up here after falling (yet again) for another Taylor Swift conspiracy theory, I do think I would have ended up here eventually. I have been a fan of Matthew Vaughn (who is likely the author and is the producer on the film "adaptation" of this book) for a while so the film was already on my radar.

Working in marketing, it was pretty obvious this book was a marketing tactic for the film and I think it would have been a good one if the book was different. There would've been a cool opportunity here if the book that was published was actually the book being written in the film. Unfortunately this seems to be a prequel of sorts for Agent Argylle. I was envisioning this book as kind of a mirror to the film where we actually get to read this big espionage thriller that Elly Conway is writing, but that just isn't the case.

Outside of all the marketing hubbub, this book on its own is just okay. Nothing fantastic, but decent and entertaining at times. Not a must read by any means, but not a waste of time either. Truly the definition of a 3-star read.
