Someone Like You by Sarah Dessen

Idk what crack I used to be on when I was younger but this was pretty bad. Quick shoutout to the awful fat shaming one liner that existed for no reason. Like okay asshole.

Someone Like You is about a girl named Halley who has a best friend named Scarlett. Scarlett's boyfriend just died and then she learns that she's pregnant. Things are hard, especially with Halley's new boyfriend but she wants to be there for her best friend.

Sarah Dessen used to be my love back in the day but oof this did not age well. This book has so much ~drama~ but it was all so melodramatic and just... flat? Halley was not a good POV- she was so flat and half emotionless and it was boring. The book from the point of Scarlett would have been 10x better. Halley starts dating some dude who is an asshole and this relationship goes on for way too long and it was just annoying to read. Plus every "conversation" with Halley's mother was a joke.

But Halley and Scarlett's friendship was the highlight and I liked how they were best friends and there for each other. There was nothing toxic between them and it was sweet. This doesn't outweigh the rest of the book being a mess but hey, I needed it for a reading challenge.
