Shadow Reaper
by Christine Feehan
This did not live up to my expectations. The first in the series was interesting, paced well, and while it didn't completely wow me, it left room for improvement in the subsequent books. Unfortunately, that did not happen with Shadow Reaper. I found the descriptions repetitive (yes, we know the rope is an extension of him), the plot had massive holes in it, there was no explanation for a lot of the incidents that propelled the lead characters into action, and the scenes of intimacy fizzled. I felt no connection between the hero and heroine and if you asked me to describe either right now, I'd be hard pressed to think of more than a few traits. The characters were just not memorable.
On the upside, I did enjoy the small peeks into, what I assume are, future couples and I'm cautiously optimistic that this was just a fluke.
