A truly fantastic piece of non-fiction - years' worth of solid research, intelligent literary criticism and a personal touch that never feels snobbish or patronising. I picked it up as an obvious Austen fan and I really loved learning about her predecessors, but I ended up even more fascinated by the details of rare book trade.
