Unsheltered by Barbara Kingsolver
5.0
Generally when I read a book with dual timelines, I am considerably more interested in one and speed through the other in order to get back to the first. Unsheltered was absolutely an exception to this experience. Both storylines, set around a crumbling house in New Jersey, were equally captivating. The characters were well-developed and easy to root for. The scientific narrative running through the book was fascinating, as in most of Kingsolver's works. I now feel embarrassed that I had not heard of Mary Treat, who plays a large role in the earlier timeline. I feel I have been educated as well as entertained and rate this as one of my favorite reads of 2018.
