The writing itself is very enjoyable and richly sets scenes and an uncomfortable atmosphere whilst the protagonist and characters themselves are quite cold, I felt far removed from their humanity and feelings. I felt as though I was allowed only a one dimensional view of them but was left so many hints and traces of their fuller selves and intentions behind a veil of detachment. It is an interesting tool of the writing that puts inserts you are the reader into the same uneasy space shared by the characters of unspoken truths, unshakeable cultural expectations, surface level relationships and everyday acceptance of misogyny and toxic masculinity.
Not certain on the weasels role in it all, but the cover is cute and was the selling point, it has to be said. Poor mother weasel.
