Maybe in Another Life
by Taylor Jenkins Reid
After discovering that her current boyfriend was not who she thought she was Hannah decides to move back to where she grew up to be with her best friend Gabby and maybe just get her life back on track. When she is reunited with her High School boyfriend Ethan, Hannah's life splits taking her down two different paths.
Just like many other TJR reads I became completely enthralled in the story from the get go, the characters, the plot (with many mini cliffhangers) and the sprinkling of meaningful quotes throughout (my pencil got a work out). I am still in awe of people who can write one story let alone two stories for the one character where there is so much growth and development. I liked the way the story ended, and while I don't believe the author would like us to choose which ending we prefer but consider the parallel universes that exist in our own lives.
The frequent mention of cinnamon rolls, the perfect top bun and a dog allergy did wear a little thin - I guess we had to hear these things twice as much due to the parallel universes. But do people really harp on about these small things so frequently in real life? I feel like too much of Hannah's life was boiled down to these two quirks, surely there's more to her than cinnamon rolls and top buns.
A note on the cover- I'm really unsure about the cover art and how it connects to the story, it looks like an Italian scooter in the background and Hannah also looks styled all wrong.
For lovers of Sliding Doors
My copy was purchased from a $10 Dymocks Black Friday sale.
P.S now I want a cinnamon roll.
