I quite enjoyed the main A plot until it started to drag a bit (even though the book was pretty short). The romance b plot which started I'd say shortly after the A plot started to drag was a bit frustrating, but the frustration sets it up for a more satisfying resoution I hope in the next book or two. I kinda just wanted to get to the next book after page 220. It kinda stumbles at the end for me, but the last chapter makes up with it and is satisfying for me and actually one of the hilights of the book for me.

The characters are amazing though, will defiently keep it at 4 stars for the cast. Will is a king honestly. I like how the author made him a tad bit "unlikable" I guess, while still making him endearing. There's alot of blank slates I feel for these kinda soldier characters, which Will is not.
The rest of the cast is cool, but Will's my favorite.

But it is a WW1 era MLM piece and as a gay man who loves period pieces of course I'm gonna eat this up. I don't think the LGBTQ parts are the best period piece LGBT romance I've seen, because at times it felt kinda like pandering to a straight market. Still I ate the romance up because I like the feral WW1 veteran and his gentlemanly gay lover.
