My local library has these brown bags of books you can check out. You can see what type of books are in the bag (YA, thriller, mystery, etc) but not what the books are until you check them out. I found this book in one of these bags. I probably would never have picked this book up on my own because the synopsis sounds like so much romantic drivel - poor girl has to choose between two loves. Cue drama. But no! This book is dystopian novel about a girl who sees cracks in the system and longs for more than she has; she longs for choice and freedom. Yeah, there's some teenage angst and romance, but it's so well written and the world building is done so well. I find myself wanting to know more about the Society and the Outer Provinces and how things became as they are. I want to know if Cassia can break free of the constrains of the Society and how she'll do it. Where is Ky and what will happen to him? Such a great book that I didn't want to stop reading. It seems like this is a series starter. As someone, who loves a good series, I'm looking forward to the next one. Maybe it'll turn up in my next bag of mystery books from the library. :)
